Interview mit IRON VIRGIN

Interview mit IRON VIRGIN (IRON MAIDEN Tribute Band/ Members: Sascha Bulheller/ Vocals, Kai Bergerin/ Drums, Stefan Fleischer/ Bass, Berny Pezalla/ Guitar, Nico Mola/ Guitar)
by Petra M. Jansen

Interview with INNERWISH

Interview with InnerWish (George Eikosipentakis/ Vocals,Thimios Krikos/ Guitars, Manolis Tsigkos/ Guitars, Antonis Mazarakis/ Bass, Fragiskos Samoilis/ Drums, George Geogiou/ Keyboards) by Petra M. Jansen

Hi guys, nice to meet you here at the FMO Full Metal Osthessen Festival 2017 and thanks a lot for spending your time with me. Great pleasure!

And we are InnerWish, we have no names (laughs).

InnerWish is a Christian melodic power metal band from Greece and no stranger in the metal scene. First of all congratulation to your amazing music, I pretty enjoyed each of your albums. So, hello to all of you, how are things going in Greece at the moment?

Hahaha, we can talk about politics and everything… ok, we are characterized as a Christian metal band because maybe we´ve some things in the lyrics or some positive messages so one can understand them as Christian songs but we don´t want to be characterized in a special category. We just play music and everyone can explain or interpret the lyrics as he wants. We write about things which are very much related to life, to emotions, to our families, almost daily things or such human things. We are not specialized in Christian lyrics, it´s not our purpose. But we drink some Christian beers hahaha…. God bless! Anyway we are Greeks, we are born in Greece and we are grown up with religion. We are not using our music to promote Christian messages. On the first album of InnerWish we had a song which is called” Lord Of Truth” or “Waiting For The Dawn”… maybe this characterized us as a Christian band. When we split up after the first recording… our first singer became a monk for about 8 years and we had a cover with a cross on it´s front. We are not against Christians, we are Christians, of course… but our music has several real messages.

You had a line up changing and one of your band members is also playing in DIVINER, is it right? Continue reading

Interview with THEOCRACY

Interview with THEOCRACY (Christian melodic-/ power metal/ USA. Members: Matt Smith/ Vocals, Val Allen Wood/ Lead Guitar, Jonathan Hinds/ Guitar, Vocals, Jared Oldham/ Bass, Ernie Topran/ Drums)

by Petra M. Jansen

Hello Matt! Nice to talk to you today, I am very pleased. Tell me a bit about the existence of the band and the band’s history. How did you find together and did you have any lineup changes since your beginning in 2002?

Yes, thank you for talking to me. THEOCRACY started out as a solo project with just me. The first album was just me and then we became a three piece, for the second album we had John and Jean and now we´re finally five piece which is what I always wanted. I took a while to become a four piece band but finally we´re there.

Your new album “Ghost Ship” is out now. You entered the Billboard hard rock charts in top 19, wow, that´s amazing!

 Thank you! I am surprised.

So, I don´t have to ask whether you are satisfied… I saw the actual placement between Rob Zombie and Meshuggah… that´s fantastic! You certainly did not expect that success, I suppose? Continue reading

Interview with Malevolence Records, Nathan Mc Leod

Interview with Malevolence Records, Nathan Mc Leod (CEO Heavy Metal Record Label/ USA),

by Petra M. Jansen

Hi Nathan, nice to talk to you! It´s a great pleasure for me to interview a record label owner on “Kulissenblicke” because until now we´ve had just national and international bands in the interview. Tell me a bit about your development and how you got involved into music. Where were the beginnings?

Good day, Petra. Thank you for having me on “Kulissenblicke”. It’s a pleasure and thank you for taking your time out of your busy schedule to conduct this interview with me. Appreciate it.

The idea of starting my own record label had come to light and had been floating around in my head around the end of 2004. In March 2005, I had finally made a decision to move forward with and start up Malevolence Records, “officially”. In the beginning from 2005 to 2006, Malevolence Records started as a distribution-type label only. More or less artists and bands would send me copies of their CDs. I would advertise them on music forums what I had to the masses and distribute them around the world. Basically taking and fulfilling orders. Also during this time frame from 2005 to 2006, I was working for Nuclear Blast Records USA. So, some of my thoughts or ideas working for them during this time frame were applicable to my wanting to start my own record label. To really take you back how I became involved in music in general started at a really young age. Was just a child when I used to hear The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin and such on AM Radio. There were TV programs like The Midnight Special, Saturday Night Live and Soul Train. Not too much later KISS emerged. On my Dad’s side of the family him and his two brothers were musicians. I was just very intrigued and fascinated by music from a really young age. Start getting a little bit older and would listen to the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Ronnie Montrose. Rest in Peace.
